HBO’s “Lanterns” Wraps Filming Next Month

Meanwhile, HBO’s much-anticipated eight-episode “Lanterns” TV series is set to wrap production next month.

The project, part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe, offers a new take on Green Lantern mythology with a “True Detective”-style detective story.

The story follows two legendary Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), as they unravel a dark, Earth-bound mystery.

J. Alphonse Nicholson, who portrays John Stewart’s father, confirmed to Black Girl Nerds that he’s in “multiple episodes and have a strong presence in the story”.

He adds that he’s “really excited to be in my ‘father bag’ now playing a dad…We’re almost done. Shooting wraps in July. I’ve got one more episode to go.”

Kelly Macdonald, Ulrich Thomsen, Garret Dillahunt, Jason Ritter, Nicole Ari Parker and Nathan Fillion co-star in the series, which began shooting in February in Los Angeles.
