The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club brings sense of place to Philadelphia Airport
Designed and developed by US design firm Corgan with elements evoking Philadelphia’s 17th century Blue Anchor Tavern, the multi-dimensional facility is operated by Airport Dimensions.

USA. The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club has opened its doors at Philadelphia International Airport. Designed and developed by US architecture firm Corgan, the facility is operated by travel experience player Airport Dimensions.
Located in the connector between terminals D and E, the high-class 1,868sq m lounge’s design is inspired by Philadelphia’s rich culture and history, reimagining a traditional tavern with modern touches and amenities.
Corgan told The Moodie Davitt Report that its design team focused on delivering a sense of place and “a luxurious but effortless experience that guests have come to expect from Sapphire lounges”.
The facility’s material palette includes natural stone, rich velvets, dark wood and brass accents.
Amenities
The lounge is anchored by large windows overlooking the airfield which invite natural light to flood the dining room, beer garden, productivity lounge and wellness pods.
The productivity lounge features a water-vapour fireplace, which serves as the centrepiece of the sofa and plush seating area, while a large conference table and two phone booths give travellers a place to work.
Wellness features include several rooms for rejuvenating facial treatments. In addition, there are spacious, marble-lined restrooms and two private showers.
Various food options are provided all day, alongside a stylish bar with a tiered brass canopy and a self-serve beverage centre.
Family-friendly facilities are a key feature of the lounge. A family area is tucked away from the more social areas of the lounge, giving travelling families a space to play, read and relax.
The Kids’ Zone – set apart from the family room by sliding glass doors – features cosy reading nooks, toys and child-friendly furniture, along with seating for parents.
Sense of place
Discussing the lounge’s sense of place, Corgan Aviation Sector Design Director Ginger Gee DiFurio told The Moodie Davitt Report that Philadelphia’s history sets the tone for a spacious beer garden, a first for any Chase Sapphire lounge.
Inspired by the city’s 17th century Blue Anchor Tavern, she said the bar features custom brass taps and a reclaimed wood communal table that emulates the charm of a classic pub.
Also featuring in the space is a vibrant mural by local artist James Burns from Mural Arts Philadelphia, which depicts a colourful take on the city’s landscape of bridges and scenic paths.
“This idea of city and open space is reinforced with modern touches like overhead foliage, and expansive airfield views create a fresh, inviting contrast,” DiFurio explained. “In a nod to more recent history, Philadelphia’s sports legacy shines in the lounge’s arcade room.”
Memorabilia from the city’s big four sports teams line the room, providing a nostalgic backdrop to retro arcade games and a TV wall.
DiFurio added, “What we’re most proud of is how seamlessly the interior design, guest experience, local cuisine and curated art come together to create a true sense of place.
“Every detail in the lounge is intentionally crafted to reflect the spirit of Philadelphia while offering travellers a refined, welcoming environment that feels both elevated and deeply authentic.”
The lounge can be accessed for free by cardholders including Priority Pass, Chase Sapphire Reserve, J.P. Morgan Reserve and The Ritz-Carlton Credit Card under certain conditions. Other guests can access the lounge at a cost of US$75.
