Kieran Culkin Joins New “Hunger Games”

Oscar winner Kieran Culkin has scored a key role in “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” at Lionsgate.

The former “Succession” actor will take on the role of the games’ eccentric host Caesar Flickerman, a role that Stanley Tucci portrayed in the first four films of the franchise.

Culkin joins a quickly expanding cast that also just saw Elle Fanning cast as a young version of Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks’ role from the original films). The new film is set over two decades before the events of “The Hunger Games” and unfolds during the 50th incarnation of the games (the Second Quarter Quell).

Other previously announced cast members taking over previously seen characters are Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Ralph Fiennes as President Snow, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee Latier, Lili Taylor as Mags and Maya Hawke as Wiress.

They’re joined by new characters played by Mckenna Grace, Ben Wang, Whitney Peak, Molly McCann, Iona Bell and Glenn Close.

Francis Lawrence directs the movie, from a script by Billy Ray that adapts Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel. The movie will hit cinemas November 20th 2026.
