‘Legacy of Kain: Defiance’ Rated for PS4, PS5 in Taiwan

Legacy of Kain fans are apparently in for more treats after the release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered last December. While nothing has yet been officially announced, Crystal Dynamics’ 2003 action-adventure game Legacy of Kain: Defiance looks to be getting a re-release in the near future.

Spotted by Gematsu, Defiance was recently rated for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee website. This would seem to indicate that the PlayStation 2 title will be added as part of the PlayStation Plus Classics Catalogue, though as mentioned, no date has been formally announced.

Legacy of Kain: Defiance would be the remaining title in the series that would be joining the PlayStation Plus Classics lineup. The first game in the series, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, and its 2002 sequel, Blood Omen 2, were previously released last November for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Taking place after the events of Soul Reaver 2 and Blood Omen 2, Defiance sees the Vampire lord Kain and his lieutenant-turned-wraith Raziel travel back through time to Nosgoth’s past, where they uncover events that led to the land being doomed to an eternity of corruption. After establishing his free will by refusing to kill Kain when prophesied, Raziel discovers that Moebius the Time Streamer had originally manipulated Kain into igniting a genocidal war against Vampires until he was the last of his kind. In manipulating Raziel who has free will and thus whose decisions and actions cannot be foreseen by Moebius, Kain hopes to find a way to undo the consequences of his actions and restore Nosgoth to its former glory.

In addition to the PlayStation 2, Legacy of Kain: Defiance was also released for the original Xbox and PC. You can grab the PC version on Steam.
