TAGABOW release new song, announce lineup for Julia’s War Fest in Philly

Philly’s undefinable They Are Gutting A Body of Water have released a new single, “American Food,” and it marks their first release via the new partnership of TAGABOW leader Douglas Dulgarian’s label Julia’s War, Oakland label Smoking Room (home to multiple TAGABOW vinyl releases), and veteran label ATO Records. “American Food” is a nearly-impossible-to-describe song with bedroom folk guitar, spoken word, deeply-effected melodic vocals, an insistent drum beat, and some other background noises including what sounds like record scratches. I think if you took a bunch of acid and tried to cover the Butthole Surfers’ “Pepper” from memory, it might sound a little like this.

Of the song, Dulgarian says: “All them atrocities is far from our minds, when the vices help us thru.” It comes with a video shot, edited, and directed by Alan “Rickman” Official. Check it out below.

In related news, the lineup was just announced for Julia’s War Fest, which happens at Philly’s Ukie Club on July 18, 19, and 20. TAGABOW aren’t on it, but it does include MSPAINT, Draag, Chanel Beads, NAH, Bad History Month, Worlds Worst, Fib, and more. Full lineup below.

Julia’s War is also home to the new vinyl release of MJ Lenderman and Wednesday’s 2021 collaborative EP Guttering.
