Tuesday, June 17 – These 4 New Horror Movies Released at Home Today

It’s not the biggest new release day for the horror genre this week – that’s coming this Friday… stay tuned! – but today still brings with it four fresh frights including a new series from Shudder and the at-home premiere of one of this year’s biggest theatrical horror hits.

After scaring up a franchise record $272 million at the worldwide box office, sixth franchise installment Final Destination Bloodlines is now available on Digital outlets at home.

You can rent the film on Digital for $19.99 or purchase it for $24.99.

From New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures, the film is directed by Adam Stein & Zach Lipovsky. The screenplay is by Guy Busick & Lori Evans Taylor, and the story is by Jon Watts and Guy Busick & Lori Evans Taylor. Based on characters created by Jeffrey Reddick.

Final Destination Bloodlines stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore, Rya Kihlstedt, Brec Bassinger, and Tony Todd.

In the box office hit, “Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefani heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle – her grandmother, Iris – and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all.”

A teenager possesses the ability to enter other people’s dreams in the terrifying supernatural horror movie Soul Reaper, which looks like an Indonesian A Nightmare on Elm Street.

The film is now available on VOD from Well Go USA Entertainment.

Directed by Sidharta Tata (Quarantine Tales), Soul Reaper stars Devano Danendra, Keisya Levronka, Mikha Hernan. Budi Ros, Fajar Nugra, and Ratu Felisha.

Here’s the full synopsis: “Nightmares of violent deaths torment Respati—until he realizes they’re not just dreams. A Canadian horror anthology series from “Slasher” creators Aaron Martin and Ian Carpenter, Shudder’s “Hell Motel” premiered today with the first two episodes of the series.

New episodes will follow weekly on Tuesdays on Shudder and AMC+.

A group of 10 true crime obsessives are invited to the opening weekend of the newly renovated Cold River Motel, the site of a 30-year-old unsolved satanic mass murder. History repeats itself when the guests get stranded and start getting knocked off one by one during a murder spree that grows exponentially more gruesome than the original with each kill.

The cast includes Eric McCormack (“Will & Grace”) as Hemmingway, a chef with a wickedly sinister flair, Paula Brancati (“Slasher)” as Paige, a former scream queen actress looking to revive a career that has seemingly left her behind; Shaun Benson (“The Boys”) as Crow, a new-age medium with an apparent connection to the massacre’s victims; and Atticus Mitchell (“The Hardy Boys”) as Blake, a true crime writer and himself a survivor of a mass killing.

They’re joined by Emmanuel Kabongo (“Outer Banks”) as Kawayan, a talented artist with a dark focus on murder; Jim Watson (“Transplant”) as Andy, a bookish academic at the forefront of contemporary true crime studies; and Genevieve DeGraves (“Chapelwaite”) as Adriana, a hybristophilic flight attendant with several notorious serial killer notches on her bedpost.

Drag queen Icesis Couture (“Canada’s Drag Race”) also makes a guest appearance as Magenta, a stylish real estate agent who sells the Coldwater Motel to its new owners Ruby and Portia, played by Brynn Godenir (“Burden of Truth”) and Michelle Nolden (“Nikita”), respectively.

Carpenter serves as showrunner, with Adam MacDonald (Backcountry, Pyewacket) directing.

And coming-of-age dystopian zombie film Párvulos: Children of the Apocalypse was released onto VOD outlets courtesy of Firebook Entertainment beginning today, June 17.

From the executive producers of Huesera: The Bone Woman, the Mexican horror movie production is written and directed by Isaac Ezban (The Similars, Parallel).

In a dystopian future ravaged by a viral apocalypse, three young brothers find themselves isolated in a remote cabin deep. As they navigate this desolate world, they harbor a dark and disturbing secret in their basement—a presence they must feed to ensure their own survival.

Farid Escalante Correa, Leonardo Cervantes, and Mateo Ortega Casillas star in Párvulos: Children of the Apocalypse with Norma Flores, Horacio F. Lazo, Carla Adell, Juan Carlos Remolina (“Who Killed Sara?”), and Noé Hernández (“Narcos: Mexico”).

Meagan Navarro wrote in her review out of Fantasia, “This coming-of-age horror fantasy gets bleak, as dystopian tales tend to, with Ezban plunging three young boys into gruesome, harrowing scenarios. But it’s offset with bursts of levity, whimsy, and a sense of impressive style that sets this post-apocalyptic story apart, even when familiar hallmarks creep in.”
