FromSoftware’s co-op game “Elden Ring: Nightreign” has sold 2 million copies in its first day according to publisher Bandai Namco.

Thanking fans for their support, Bandai Namco posted the sales marker on social media and also confirmed that “Nightreign” will be getting a patch next week that should make the experience easier for solo players.

The game is designed for three-player co-op, but can also be played in single-player mode. The early consensus is that it’s too hard to do this game alone. Patch 1.02 will be released next week and will include “several bug fixes as well as improvements for solo expeditions”.

The game hit a peak of 313,593 concurrent players just one hour after release, making it the second-highest maximum peak Steam concurrent for any FromSoftware game behind only “Elden Ring” itself. The peak is expected to be surpassed this coming weekend.

Reviews, however, have been less enthusiastic. The title is at a solid 80/100 on Metacritic with critics for the PC version (user reviews aren’t available there yet). On Steam however, the title is scoring a ‘Mixed’ reaction from the 18,197 reviews submitted thus far.

Criticisms have cited performance issues with high-end graphics cards, the lack of a two-player mode, no crossplay, no in-game voice chat, connectivity issues and more, with some dubbing this FromSoftware’s ‘first miss’.
