Steam Next Fest Demo for Dark Fantasy Dungeon Crawler ‘Horripilant’ Now Available [Trailer]

Solo dev Alexandre Declos is getting ahead of Steam Next Fest for you dungeon crawler fans, as he’s released the demo for Horripilant. Combining idler, puzzle and autobattler elements, Horripilant has you fighting, mining, and thinking your way through the depths of a forsaken dungeon.

The story for Horripilant  casts you as an old, battered knight, who awakens in the darkest corners of an abandoned dungeon, with no memory of how you got there. As you gather your bearings, a strange tree sprout catches your eye. You hit it, and a twig breaks off onto the ground. With your newfound resource, you seem to be able to improve your equipment. Distorted moans echo from an empty staircase, beckoning you to descend deeper into the shadows.

The demo features the game’s introduction to the main incremental gameplay loop, including regular, uninterrupted gameplay until level 10 (out of 1000), which equates to around an hour and 45 minutes of gameplay. Progression in the demo will carry over to the full game.

As indicated by the opening of the story, you’ll be collecting resources and materials to incrementally better your equipment, as well as solving puzzles and exploring the depths of your camp. And as expected, you’ll also be dealing with whatever monsters are lurking in the shadows.

The June edition of Steam Next Fest runs from the 9th to the 16th.
