GERMANY. Frankfurt Airport Retail (FAR) – the joint venture between Fraport AG and Gebr. Heinemann – is set to operate more than 3,000sq m of retail space at the new Frankfurt Airport Terminal 3, set to open in the first half of 2026.

The development marks a new chapter in Gebr. Heinemann’s long-standing retail partnership with Frankfurt Airport, which dates back over five decades. The joint venture will bring a dynamic marketplace concept to life, delivering a curated mix of international and local brands tailored to Frankfurt’s diverse traveller base.

At the heart of the offering is a flagship Duty Free store spanning 1,732sq m. “The aim to create an unforgettable shopping experience is reflected in all areas of the shop concept – from the architecture to the assortment to the demeanour of the staff,” said Gebr. Heinemann Director Sales Western Europe Tobias Bechinger.

The Terminal 3 retail line-up includes monobrand stores from Boss, Montblanc and Gatezero

The store will feature an extensive range of premium products across beauty, wines & spirits, confectionery, tobacco, toys and sunglasses. Highlights include a dedicated area for high-end niche fragrances, a new cross-category multi-sensory activation concept, a Habanos Specialist Humidor and a curated selection of regional specialties.

The space’s design takes inspiration from the Frankfurt region’s natural surroundings and the River Main. Architectural elements evoke fluid forms, ripples, reflections and movement, reinforcing a sense of place while acknowledging Frankfurt’s role as a major European hub of connectivity.

Beyond the main store, the retail footprint will include an additional Duty Free shop, two Travel Value stores and a number of monobrand boutiques. These will include Boss, Montblanc and Gatezero. Gatezero is positioned as a multichannel concept store for “new luxury”, offering a curated edit of trend-forward international brands aimed at younger consumers.

The new Duty Free concept will offer luxury fragrances, spirits and confectionery alongside a dedicated zone for regional specialities

“Our joint venture with Fraport is a true success story and a partnership at eye level, always with the shared goal of continuously elevating the retail experience at Frankfurt Airport. I am very proud that we are continuing on this path at Terminal 3, one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe,” commented Gebr. Heinemann Chief Sales Officer Florian Seidel.

Fraport AG Executive Director Retail and Real Estate Anke Giesen added, “We are delighted to have Gebr. Heinemann as a strong and reliable partner, enriching the retail mix at Frankfurt Airport for many decades.

“Through our FAR joint venture, we are setting new trends that will, alongside Duty Free and Travel Value offerings, have a lasting impact on the retail experience at our new Terminal 3.” ✈
