Mia Goth Cast In Star Wars: Starfighter

Actress Mia Goth has been cast in an unknown role opposite Ryan Gosling in Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter. Goth’s is only the second role to be cast after lead Gosling. Therefore, it is certainly a major role in the movie. The casting was first reported by Jeff Sneider but quickly backed up by Variety.

As per the trade,

‘Mia Goth is headed to a galaxy far, far away. The “Pearl” actor has joined the cast of Shawn Levy’s “Star Wars: Starfighter,” which also stars Ryan Gosling. Details of her role are currently being kept under wraps.’

‘The film is eyeing a fall production start and Disney has set a theatrical release date of May 28, 2027. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni officially unveiled plans for “Starfighter” at the annual Star Wars Celebration event in Tokyo this April.’

Interestingly, Sneider claims the role was first offered to Mikey Madison. However, he also claims the fee she requested was too large a number for Lucasfilm, and Goth was next on the list.

As for the role, when Sneider first started talking about this casting he thought it was for a villain role. However, there’s been little mention of this since. Therefore,  I’m not sure if that’s still the current thinking? As you can see by the related section above, there are other casting rumors. However, so far only Gosling has been officially confirmed and Goth is as good as with Variety’s reputation and contacts.

We still know almost nothing about the plot of Starfighter. We do however know the movie takes place a few years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. Therefore, I’d argue this is the rest movie from the newly created New Jedi Order era.
