Punk Island returned for its 17th annual edition on Sunday (6/8) on Randall’s Island. It was the festival’s second year in a row at that location, and its second year of overlapping with Governors Ball (which now happens at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, but whose former home was Randall’s Island). Skies were overcast for much of the day, with light rain starting towards the middle of the afternoon and persisting off and on through the evening, but that didn’t dampen attendees’ enthusiasm as they moshed, skanked, two-stepped, and pogoed along to the over 80 bands performing this year. This year’s lineup included Depresión Tropical, P.H.0, No Weapon, Bad Timing, Fishlord, Attaxia, Adult Human Females, Goof Goblin, Eevie Echoes & the Locations, Choked Up, Arms Reach, Meteor Police, Deadshot, Fulano!, Indeyevid, Consumables, Chico Raro Band, Xtinguish The Code, Lousekateers, T@b Grrrl, L-Punk, Typhoid Rosie, Scary Hours, Desert Sharks, Shakeout, Faggot Band, and more, and you can see lots of pictures by Amanda Hatfield below.
