The Marriott Titanium benefit to receive United Silver elite status.

The linkage appears to be broken. Many threads over the past few months of users complaining with most not being successful.

Here’s my story…  it’s been going on for about 5 weeks with me, each rep tell me to wait a week try again, wait another week, try again – so on and so forth.  I’ve gone to Socials, i’ve called in, and now you can see the latest is an email exchange.

Since I sent the below email they sent me 10,000 Marriott points, but still no other solution other than… you guessed… wait a couple more days and try to link the accounts again.

Marriott’s Email:

Dear {INSERT: QUICK TEXT GREETING},

Thank you for reaching out regarding your attempt to link your Marriott Bonvoy® account with United Airlines to receive Silver status.

I’m truly sorry to hear that the link is not working and that you’ve had to take time to contact us. I understand how frustrating that can be.

We apologize for the frustration you have experienced and appreciate your patience while we work with United to resolve the validation issues related to the Preferred Partnership Program status match. Since your status benefit is triggered by your Marriott Bonvoy Titanium status, you will need to attempt to re-register at https://travel-partner.marriott.com/united/en-us. Please wait until after June 6, 2025 to attempt to re-register.

We genuinely value your loyalty to Marriott Bonvoy® and appreciate your continued support as a Titanium Elite member. If there’s anything more I can do to assist you, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

I keep getting the same message from Marriott CSR’s.  The only thing that changes is the date.  You said wait until after June 6th. Prior rep said wait until after May 30th.  Prior to that it was May 12th.  Are you seeing a trend here?  My issue of the linkage is very much an issue, but my complaint is how your staff are handling this.  These seem like random future dates to get me to just wait, and wait, and wait.  There are numerous threads about this going on for months and impacting other members.  What progress is actually being made?  At what point will you agree Marriott is not supplying the benefit you so advertise for Titanium members?

I’m truly trying to stay professional, but every rep says wait and re-register after some random future date.  This is not helpful, and continues to take considerable time.

On this basis, please assist.  I have a United flight next month to Mexico, and would really appreciate having my Premium status show up.

We were in touch with Marriott, who told us that there has been an issue with a small number of accounts where this linkage has not been working, but that the issue should have been resolved (this was the response as of Friday).

There is something wrong with this linkage, as it sometimes drops, even when your Bonvoy status doesn’t change, and you need to relink your accounts.

You may think that this would not matter, but it really does for those who cannot avail themselves of United Premier Silver benefits that include a free checked bag and Economy Plus seating at check-in.

You can also theoretically get upgrades to business/domestic first on short-haul flights, but you are behind all other elite members.

Conclusion

I wish that Marriott and United would resolve this account linkage issue once and for all, as these problems tend to recur annually.

If you rely on free checked luggage and Economy Plus seating, these can be valuable benefits on long-haul flights; having your account downgraded for weeks is not an ideal situation.
