Filmmaker Scott Cooper has closed a deal to write, direct, and produce an untitled contemporary crime drama for Amazon MGM Studios’ United Artists label. Cooper, Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt will produce. Cooper is currently finishing up his Bruce Springsteen biopic “Deliver Me From Nowhere”. [Source: THR]
Quasimodo
Vincent Cassel will star in Jean-Francois Richet’s “Quasimodo,” a Netflix movie reimagining of Victor Hugo’s 1831 cult gothic novel “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame” which will shoot this Summer in France.
Set in Paris on the eve of the July Revolution (1830), this film reimagines the life of the man said to have inspired Victor Hugo’s iconic character, Quasimodo. As the cholera epidemic spreads through the city, he’s caught between political turmoil and an impossible love. [Source: Deadline]
The Institute
MGM+ has released the official trailer for the TV series adaptation of Stephen King‘s 2019 sci-fi horror novel “The Institute” which premieres July 13th. The story deals with children who have telepathic abilities and are abducted and taken to a secret facility that aims to perform experiments on them.
We follow teen genius Luke Ellis (Joe Freeman) who awakens there one day, along with haunted former police officer Tim Jamieson (Ben Barnes) whose story will collide with Luke. Mary-Louise Parker, Simone Miller, Fionn Laird, Hannah Galway, Julian Richings, Robert Joy and Martin Roach co-star. Jack Bender (“Mr. Mercedes”) executive produces. [Source: MGM]
