Biffy Clyro have made their return with the triumphant new single ‘A Little Love’. Check it out below.

The first new material since the Scottish rock giants’ acclaimed 2021 album ‘The Myth Of The Happily Ever After‘ and its chart-topping 2020 sister record ‘A Celebration Of Endings‘, ‘A Little Love’ was recently debuted at an intimate Glasgow warm-up gig before they opened their set with it at BBC Radio One’s Big Weekend.

Produced by Jonathan Gilmore (The 1975, Rina Sawayama, Beabadoobe), the first taster of the trio’s 10th album sees the Biff’ in their finest soaring but sideways arena rock fettle, as frontman Simon Neils wrestles with relationships (“I can’t divorce you, you put me through hell“) and  the realisation that you don’t always know what you have until it’s gone (“With a little love, if you want it, we can conquer it all“).

The song comes with a video showing the band experimenting with dance and body movement – directed by Piers Dennis (best known for his work with Self Esteem), choreographed by Olivier and Obie Award winner Steven Hoggett (renowned for collaborating with David Byrne for the performance art project Social! The Social Distance Dance Club) and inspired by Marina Abramović’s 1977 work Relation In Time.

A seven-inch single of ‘A Little Love’ will also be available Friday (June 13) and available here.

The band teased that they were “back at it” at the start of the year, before sharing photos and footage of them recording their new record in Berlin. Once Neil had finished touring with his grindcore side-project Empire State Bastard (featuring Oceansize‘s Mike Vennart and assisted Slayer‘s Dave Lombardo and Bitch Falcon‘s Naomi Macleod in releasing 2023 debut ‘Rivers Of Heresy‘), Biffy took the time last year to reissue a limited edition run of their first three albums on vinyl – before performing ‘Blackened Sky‘, ‘The Vertigo Of Bliss‘ and ‘Infinity Land’ across three nights at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire.

A run of summer shows awaits, including a Scottish homecoming headline set at TRNMST, Cornwall’s Eden Sessions and a Friday night Pyramid Stage performance at Glastonbury ahead of The 1975. Check out full tour dates below and visit here for tickets and more information.

In spring 2023, Neil also shared an update on his other projects, Marmaduke Duke and Tippie Toes, saying that records from both were still on the way. “Well believe it or not, I did just spend two weeks working on Tippie Toes,” he said. “We do have an album’s worth of material, we just need to edit it. I don’t want to be flippant with music and would never put it out because it’s almost ready. Tippie Toes is going to have a purpose and be special.”

He continued: “Marmaduke Duke is already special and will complete that, which John [JP Reid, Sucioperro] and I are a bit scared of.”

“Once that’s done, it’s over and the Duke is dead. But, I don’t want to distract from this. This has got a bit of momentum for us, emotionally, spiritually and physically. Biffy is also always at the top of my list, that’s who I am. I need to make time for my four wives.”
