Co-Studio lead James Gunn has confirmed that a Wonder Woman DCU film is in development and being written now. Gunn did not reveal who is writing this film, so for all we know it could even be Gunn himself at this point. We know Gunn is writing a DCU film, which will feature Superman, but is not a direct Superman sequel. However, that could also be something completely different that’s also in development?
As for Wonder Woman, here’s what Gunn told EW in a piece covering this Summer’s Superman film.
Gunn confirmed this Wonder Woman is a separate project from the Paradise Lost TV series currently in development.
“Wonder Woman‘s a separate thing, slow moving, but it’s moving. We’re working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman‘s being written right now.”
Now before anyone wonders is Gal Gadot will return, this is from the same EW piece.
‘Gunn confirms he has not yet cast the role of Wonder Woman in this new DCU, but he also clarifies Zaslav’s comments. [The four characters below being the foundation of DC brand.] “I think that’s accurate, actually,” he says of Superman, Batman, Supergirl, and Wonder Woman being crucial characters to the franchise. “I think that he got that from something I said, I wouldn’t say only those four characters, but I would say that those four characters are incredibly important to us. Right now, I feel great about where two of those characters are, and then we’re dealing with the other two.”

That tells me there’s no way Gadot returns. Also, let’s face it, Gal is controversial right now and as per Snow White, not a potential box office repellent. If I was to pick my choice based on only a few actors I’ve seen recently? Adria Arjona Torres, who played Bix in Andor. She looks the part (which isn’t everything), but she’s got range as well.
What do you think of this news as James Gunn confirms a Wonder Woman DCU film is in development and currently being written? Thoughts below, or fan casting.
