Former Emmy-winning “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and current “Superman” actress Rachel Brosnahan is set to star in and executive produce the second season of Apple TV+ legal anthology series “Presumed Innocent”.

David E. Kelley created the series that aired its Jake Gyllenhaal-led first season in 2024. That season was based on the book of the same name by Scott Turow which was previously adapted into the 1990s Harrison Ford-led film thriller.

The second season will use Jo Murray’s upcoming novel “Dissection of a Murder” as the source material for its story. That book will be published next year.

The synopsis for the book reads: “When Leila Reynolds is handed her first murder case, she’s shocked at how high-profile it is: the murder of a well-respected, well-known judge. This shouldn’t be the kind of case she’s leading; it’s way beyond her expertise. But the defendant, Jack Millman, is clear. He wants her, and only her.”

Brosnahan will star as Leila Reynolds. Kelley and Erica Lipez are co-showrunners on the series and executive produce alongside Brosnahan, Gyllenhaal, Dustin Thomason, J.J. Abrams, Rachel Rusch Rich, and Matthew Tinker.

Brosnahan has received many Emmy nominations for her TV work from all five seasons of ‘Maisel’ to one for her role on “House of Cards”.
