Halo PS5 Release Date Might Be Sooner Than You Think

A new leak suggests that Halo PS5 release date announcement is imminent as an entry for the game has been found on PSN backend. A known dataminer claims that a retail API was discovered on the PS Store, but what’s interesting is that it’s neither marked as Master Chief Collection nor Halo Infinite.

Halo PS5 release date rumor suggests it’s a game we weren’t expecting

The dataminer, who goes as grunt.api on X (via Reddit), claims that the listing they’ve discovered is for a different Halo game than what we were expecting, as mentioned above. Speculation suggests that much like Gears of War, Microsoft is bringing the first game in the series to PS5.

Developed by Bungie, Halo: Combat Evolved released in 2001 to universal praise. The Verge’s Tom Warren had reported back in 2024 that Microsoft was remastering the game along with plans to bring it to PlayStation platforms.

Considering Warren has been spot on about Microsoft’s plans thus far, we’re leaning towards the mystery listing being a remaster or a full remake of Halo: Combat Evolve.

As for when the game will release, that’s anybody’s guess right now and grunt.api couldn’t locate release information. My personal guess is that it’ll launch in fall 2025, possibly during the holiday season.
