Smaller Harry Potter Roles Like Malfoy’s And Dursley’s Cast For HBO Series

Some of the smaller Harry Potter roles like the Malfoy’s and Dursley’s have been cast and revealed for the upcoming HBO series. The information here comes from THR. However, all the trades are running this news.

‘The cast includes (from left to right in the photo below) Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley and Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge.’

Interesting that they’ve bothered even casting Lucius Malfoy and Fudge. Fudge never appeared (though was mentioned) in the first book. Lucius likewise does not turn up till the second book.

Everyone else mentioned above does play a part in the first book, which is what is being adapted for Season 1. So I guess there will be some changes, even if only minor.

‘The nine join many previously announced castmembers, which include Emmy winner John Lithgow (Conclave) as Hogwarts’ wise and warm Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Oscar nominee Janet McTeer (Ozark) as stern Transfiguration Professor Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu (Black Mirror) will take on the role of the sneering Potions Professor Severus Snape, Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead) will play the lumbering Hogwarts gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid. In addition, stage actor Luke Thallon will play Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor Quirinus Quirrel and Paul Whitehouse (Harry & Paul) has been cast as the curmudgeonly caretaker Argus Filch.’

‘They join the previously announced kids’ cast: Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton is Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout is the new Ron Weasley.’

The plan seems to be to begin filming this year. However, with everyone and their aunt knowing the story, I doubt there’s going to be the same kinda leaks and rumors we usually get with this one. What is there to say or see? Best just waiting for it to come out and judging it live.
