Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will join Elizabeth Debicki and Scott Caan in David Fincher’s “The Adventures of Cliff Booth” film at Netflix.
The film is a follow-up to Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 feature “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’.
The story will center on Cliff Booth, the former stuntman and body double to TV actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) in a period set a good few years after that film when Cliff is now a Hollywood fixer.
Tarantino originally wrote the script for himself to direct, but eventually put it aside before Pitt convinced the filmmaker to let Fincher direct. Things have been moving fast on the project with shooting slated to begin as early as next month in California.
Emmy winner Mateen (“Aquaman,” “Watchmen,” “The Matrix Resurrections”) is reportedly playing a character would be in the vein of Jim Brown, the famed Hall of Fame footballer who left early to focus on acting.
Mateen will next be seen in Marvel Studios’ “Wonder Man” in the title role, and as the star of Netflix’s “Man on Fire” TV series.
