INDIA. Retailer Rare Planet has been awarded a seven-year contract to operate the entire 1,200sq m retail concession at the new Jayprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna, Bihar.

Rare Planet is well-known as a retailer of gifts, souvenirs and handicrafts across more than 50 stores, with the majority located in Indian airports. It is now preparing to sub-lease various retail units across its secured space at the new airport.

The company said it is inviting “established retailers and emerging brands to participate in a culturally immersive travel retail ecosystem”.

The retail space at the airport has been earmarked by Rare Planet for potential duty-paid stores across categories such as apparel, accessories, sunglasses, décor, jewellery, footwear, personal care, cosmetics, watches, and more.

“This is a unique chance to join a vibrant retail journey in one of India’s fastest-growing airport terminals,” the company stated.

Rare Planet was founded in 2019 by young entrepreneur Ranodeep Saha and experienced retail executive Vijay Kumar. It provides employment opportunities for more than 10,000 artisans across India.
