Ryan Coogler Says Jake Schreier WILL Direct X-Men Reboot

We’ve known he’s been in talks for a while, but now fellow Marvel director Ryan Coogler says Jake Schreier WILL direct the X-Men reboot. There was a lot of articles calling Schreier’s appointment official, all due to a line from a recent article by Variety. Truthfully though, Variety did not confirm anything, bar what we knew. Namely that Schreier had been tapped to direct the film. Deadline said he was in talks months earlier, so we knew this was likely.

Now below you can see a video of Black Panther director Ryan Coogler being asked about directing the X-Men reboot. Coogler is adamant he cannot do so because Jake Schreier is directing that film. For some context Coogler is still developing Black Panther 3 (featuring Denzel Washington), plus has his hands in some other Marvel projects like Ironheart and Eyes of Wakanda.

Interesting, does this mean a deal is signed and sealed? No, but I’m guessing even if there’s some details to be ticked off, Marvel wants Schreier and the director wants the job. Therefore, it’s probably happening. Additionally, he may well have signed on the dotted line and no trades have gotten the memo yet? You’d be a fool to bet against Jake Schreier as director of the X-Men reboot at this stage though.
