A rumor is swirling around this morning that suggests Dakota Johnson is up for a currently undisclosed role in a new “Star Wars” project.
Scooper DanielRPK reported the rumored casting with the most likely possibility being Shawn Levy’s “Star Wars: Starfighter” which is aiming to begin production this Fall and already stars Ryan Gosling and Mia Goth.
Johnson has been everywhere recently while out promoting “Materialists” with good friend/co-star Pedro Pascal, who already has his own “Star Wars” link as the lead in “The Mandalorian” series and its upcoming movie.
The report indicates it’s only a consideration, and thus she could well reject the role. Johnson joining would be a small surprise after her experiences with past franchises such as “50 Shades” and more recently “Madame Web,” and she has been fairly forthcoming recently about the problems with that film.
Meanwhile, the scooper also reports that the upcoming “The Mandalorian & Grogu” movie could be the first in a potential new trilogy, but a lot would obviously depend on the film’s box-office performance.
Several other “Star Wars” projects are in development, including James Mangold’s early prequel film and the seemingly delayed post-Skywalker Rey movie.
