Switch 2 Wheelchair Basketball Game Drag x Drive Release Date Set

Nintendo used the Nintendo Today app to set a release date for Drag x Drive, the Switch 2 sports game that involves using Joy-Con 2 mouse controls to use a wheelchair inspired vehicle to roll around and play basketball. It will cost $19.99 and be available to download worldwide on August 14, 2025. This falls within the tentative Summer 2025 the company originally assigned to the 3v3 game when it first revealed it. In Drag x Drive, someone holds the left and right Joy-Con 2 controllers in mouse mode. You then run them along your legs or a flat surface to propel the wheels of the wheelchair your robot is sitting in as you race around a court with skate park elements for a basketball game. Each team has three members on it. As you near a hoop or ride up on the rim of the court, you can then change the position of your hands to use motion controls to shoot the ball. I found the experience most reminded me of Metroid Prime: Blast Ballafter playing it at a preview event. Here’s a trailer from the April 2025 Nintendo Direct that showed exactly how moving the Joy-Con 2 controllers lets you move in the Switch 2 game. It also showed how motion controls let you throw the ball and signal to other players. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hku89o38-hQ When not taking part in a game or waiting for enough players to play, it is possible to play around with the controls in the arena. Someone could test out shots on the court. There is also a track around the outside of the courts where you can race around and get used to the speed of play.  Drag x Drive will come to the Nintendo Switch 2, and the official release date is August 14, 2025.
