Sarah Michelle Gellar wants everyone to return for ‘Buffy’ reboot
"My dream is to bring back everyone who has died, but space will have to be made for new stories as well" The post Sarah Michelle Gellar wants everyone to return for ‘Buffy’ reboot appeared first on NME.

Sarah Michelle Gellar has said she wants everyone to return in the upcoming Buffy reboot – even characters that have been killed off.
In February, the actress revealed that a revival of Buffy The Vampire Slayer was in the works, with Hulu reported to be the new home for the show. Gellar will reprise her role as Buffy Summers, although the new show will focus on a new Slayer, to be played by Ryan Kiera Armstrong (American Horror Story: Red Tide).
In a new interview with Vanity Fair Italia, Gellar has said that she hopes the new version of Buffy will serve as a reunion for all of the characters from the original seven seasons of the show, even those that perished during its original run.
“It will be lighter than the last few seasons of the original,” Gellar said. “We will try to find a balance between new and old characters. My dream is to bring back everyone who has died, but space will have to be made for new stories as well.”
The supernatural drama aired between 1997 and 2003, overseen by showrunner Joss Whedon, although he will not return for the revival. Instead, Nora and Lila Zuckerman will write and showrun the new version and Chloe Zhao (Nomadland, Eternals) will direct the pilot episode.
Nora and Lilla Zuckerman have previously worked together on shows like Fringe, Suits and Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Speaking about the casting of Armstrong in the lead, Gellar has also said: “From the moment I saw Ryan’s audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side. To have that kind of emotional intelligence, and talent, at such a young age is truly a gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room.”
Fans shared their reaction to the initial reports of a Buffy… revival online in February. The original show remains beloved among fans and critics and late last year, it was named as one of the best horror TV series ever.
