James Gunn’s “Superman” reportedly sports a “Star Wars”-like opening crawl according to those who attended a press event for the film in Brazil this week.
Gunn and the film’s stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult have all been doing press for the film in the last few days with in-person appearances and screenings of some footage.
That includes Rio where footage was shown and the crawl revealed according to attendees like BrasilSuperman (via CBM).
The crawl seemingly helps set up the DC Universe of which “Superman” is the first film in the new saga (not the first overall which was Max’s “Creature Commandos”).
It comes as Gunn has gone on the record about various aspects of the film. The infamous ‘wonky eye’ flying shot in the teaser? Removed and replaced. Any “Guardians” cameos? Pom Klementieff, Michael Rooker and Bradley Cooper all lend their voices to the Fortress robots in the film.
He also has a fairly blunt response to reports of SnyderBros trying to organise a deliberate hate campaign against the film on Reddit, the group planning on sharing spoilers, posting negative reviews and more. When alerted to this on social media, Gunn said in response (via Juan Edits):
“Lol I think we’ll survive. I’m not sure the eight people that listen to that guy (I’m going to go out on a limb and guess it’s a guy) are going to impact the course of events.”
“Superman” will be released in cinemas on July 11th 2025.
