Mia Goth has joined the cast of Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter, which also stars Ryan Gosling.
Following months of speculation, news of Gosling’s casting was unveiled in April during the annual Star Wars Celebration event in Tokyo. Set five years after 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker (2019), the film will go into production this autumn before premiering on May 28 2027, exclusively in theatres.
At the Tokyo event, director Levly revealed that the film is “a standalone” that will focus on new characters within the Star Wars universe, adding: “It’s not a prequel, not a sequel. It’s a new adventure. It’s set in a period of time that we haven’t seen explored yet.”
Gosling went on to say the script was “so good”, and it had “a great story with great and original characters.
“It’s filled with so much heart and adventure, and there just really is not a more perfect filmmaker for this particular story than Shawn.”
It had previously been reported that Anora Oscar-winner Mikey Madison passed on a supporting role offer in the film, and now MaXXXine star Goth has been announced as it’s newest cast member, per Variety.
