Chicks on Speed, the long-running Munich-based feminist art-punk/electroclash/etc collective, have announced a career-spanning box set, HEARTopia, which will be out October 17 via Grönland Records. In addition to collecting their many singles (“Euro Trash Girl,” “Glamour Girl,” “We Don’t Play Guitars”), collabs with Peaches, Le Tigre & more, and albums from their nearly 30-year existence, the box features their first new album in 11 years, HEARandNOWtopia.

“This box set is a celebration of the collaborators Melissa and I worked with with us as catalysts – it reflects on the power of collective action and radical experimentation as a form of artistic intelligence with transformative potential,” says co-founder Alex Murray-Leslie. “It’s a commitment to this world: imagining it and changing it through art and social action as a mode of resistance and renewal against the planetary urgencies of our time.”

While full details of the box set and new album haven’t been revealed, they have shared dubby new single “Meat&drag,” which they say was “inspired by artist philosopher Sophia Efstathiou’s work arguing that meat replacement practices reveal the fluidity of meat, much like drag reveals the fluidity of gender.” Watch the video, and a few other Chicks on Speed classics, below.
