Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have announced they will be implementing a patch to Elden Ring Nightreign next week. Specifically, it will address the backlash it has received from players attempting to play the new game by themselves.
Elden Ring Nightreign update to improve solo play
A tweet from the official Elden Ring X account announced Patch 1.02, a new Nightreign update that will “include several bug fixes as well as improvements for solo expeditions.” It has been confirmed more details about the patch will be provided next week, but gave a rundown on how it will improve solo expeditions.
The patch will introduce “‘Automatic Revival Upon Defeat’, which allows revival once per night boss battle” to solo games, as well as increasing the amount of runes gained.
Although not as acclaimed as its predecessor, Elden Ring Nightreign has been met with decent reception. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it garnered an average score of 77 across 76 critic reviews. At our sister site, ComingSoon, we gave it an 8.5 out of 10.
“Elden Ring Nightreign is an ambitious experiment from FromSoftware, one that manages to meld its signature Souls gameplay with a run-based multiplayer experience,” reads the review. “While it’s possible to play solo and offline, the game is at its best when experienced with others and will underwhelm if played otherwise.”
Despite its flaws, many gamers around the world are flocking to FromSoftware’s latest challenge. Also revealed today via X, the developer announced that Nightreign has sold 2 million copies on release day. Considering it has been out less than 24 hours, this is pretty pretty impressive feat.
Elden Ring Nightreign is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
