Jake Schreier Comments On X-Men Reboot Speculation

Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier comments for the first time on the speculation he’ll direct the X-Men reboot for Marvel. Trades have reported Schreier is in talks to helm the film, though nothing official yet. Then, yesterday we had fellow Marvel director Ryan Coogler say that Schreier was directing the film.

So, what does the man himself say? Well, it appears he’s not ready to say whether he is or isn’t directing the film. However, he also doesn’t deny talks may be happening on a deal. Check out what he said when he spoke to Collider.

“Even if I were confirmed on that movie, I don’t think I would be allowed to answer that question. I guess what I would say is that it always starts from character and working with great writers and collaborators, and certainly thinking about how to do something different with any project that you take on. That’s as much as I can say.”

Completely consistent with either, he’s not yet signed but still in talks, or he’s signed but Marvel wants to announce it on their own terms. Either scenario means Schreier isn’t going to be opening up to the press.

It’s Summer, I’ll guess Schreier will be announced as the director of the X-Men reboot at a convention. Until then, I think we can be pretty sure we know who’s directing this rather pivotal MCU film.
