First Trailer: Channing Tatum Is “Roofman”

Following yesterday’s first photos, Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for the Channing Tatum-led true crime story film “Roofman”.

The project marks the latest work of Oscar nominated filmmaker Derek Cianfrance (“Blue Valentine”,” “The Place Beyond the Pines”) and deals with the true story of Jeffrey Manchester, a former army reserve officer turned charming serial robber.

Manchester broke into dozens of McDonald’s at night via their roofs, emptying cash registers and herding staff into freezers – rarely rarely resorting to violence.

Imprisoned in 2000, he escaped jail and evaded capture by holing up for months in a Toys ‘R Us in North Carolina. Eventually recaptured and sent back to jail, the film, covers those few months and his relationship with a local woman (Kirsten Dunst).

Peter Dinklage, Uzo Aduba, Juno Temple, LaKeith Stanfield, Ben Mendelsohn, Melonie Diaz, Tony Revolori, and Jimmy O. Yang co-star in the film.

Cianfrance and Kirt Gunn co-wrote the script while Dylan Sellers and Chris Parker produce. “Roofman” opens in cinemas on October 10th.
