Fantastic Four Runtime Confirmed And Superman Rumored Runtime Debunked

Some semi-related news today as The Fantastic Four: First Steps runtime is confirmed and a rumored Superman runtime is debunked. Let’s go in order, so we’ll start with The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

AMC websites are listing the runtime for the film as 2 hours and 10 minutes. Which, is a pretty standard length of film and nothing to comment on either way. However, I guess it’s good to know what time you’ll be heading out of cinemas come July 25th. It also probably means the movie is locked and ready for showing outside a few effects shots.

That however, is a slightly a different case with Superman, which comes just a little earlier on July 11. James Gunn the film’s director recently answered a fan on Threads who had heard a rumored runtime. That rumored runtime was 2 hours and 2 minutes. Though close, Gunn says the film isn’t quite locked yet.

“That’s not correct. It’s almost totally locked – meaning we’re just finishing a couple VFX shots over the weekend – but that’s not the running time.”

It would be fair to say the Marvel and DC movies are the most anticipated of the Summer box office season. Of course, both are comic book movies though, and that genre has reduced in popularity recently. Mostly, due to Marvel messing up their own juggernaut. At the same time whilst Superman represents a new start and a new DCU, it’s untested with audiences.

I could see a film not looked for step in and be this Summer’s big film. That being said, I think both Fantastic Four and Superman will make a decent profit and that’s all the studios can ask for that this point.
