Live-Action “Voltron” Movie Wraps Filming

The official Instagram account for the “Voltron” franchise has confirmed that the upcoming live-action “Voltron” movie from Amazon MGM Studios has wrapped filming.
Henry Cavill, Sterling K. Brown, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Rita Ora, John Kim, Alba Baptista, Samson Kayo and Tharanya Tharan star in the project which is based on the classic 1980 smecha anime series.
The original show was a reworking of Toei Animation’s “Beast King GoLion” and “Armored Fleet Dairugger XV” shows into one English-dubbed animated series that ran from 1984-1985.
It followed five young space pilots in a battalion named the Robot Lions. Those vehicles are able to join together to form a mega robot known as Voltron.
The film is expected to focus on a new generation of pilots and will get a straight to Prime Video release in 2026. Rawson Marshall Thurber is directing off a screenplay he wrote with Ellen Shanman. Todd Lieberman, Bob Koplar and David Hoberman are producing.
Filming began in December in Australia with the production’s wrap partly held last month. It’s only this week that it has been announced as officially wrapping.
