Adani Airport Holdings names IndiGo as inaugural airline partner for Navi Mumbai

INDIA. Adani Airport Holdings has confirmed that IndiGo will be the first to commence commercial flights from the soon-to-be-operational Navi Mumbai International Airport.

The strategic partnership will see IndiGo operate 18 daily departures (36 air traffic movements) to more than 15 domestic cities from day one. This will ramp up to 79 daily departures (158 ATMs), including 14 international flights, by November.

By March 2026, IndiGo plans to cross 100 daily departures, with further expansion to 140 daily flights (280 ATMs), including 30 international departures, by November 2026.

Adani Airport Holdings expects this collaboration to play a key role in supporting India’s ambition to become the third-largest aviation market globally by 2030.

IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said, “IndiGo will be the inaugural airline to operate from Navi Mumbai International Airport, and we couldn’t be more pleased to announce this. Our alliance signals towards achievement of complete operational readiness on both sides to take next steps.

“This expansion underscores our dedication to catering to the evolving needs of our aspirational travellers and further contributing to the growth of India’s booming aviation sector.

“The new flights from the brand-new NMIA will elevate the travel experience of our customers while enjoying affordable, on-time hassle-free services on our unparalleled network.”

Adani Airport Holdings CEO Arun Bansal commented, “We are delighted to announce IndiGo as the first airline partner to commence operations from NMIA. This partnership marks a major step towards confirming NMIA’s position as a transfer hub for domestic and international travellers.

“Together, we are poised to transform the travel experience for millions of passengers, providing them both convenience and enhanced travel options. Our collaboration is set to strengthen NMIA’s role as an aviation gateway for the region and for travellers nationally and internationally.”

The airport’s strategic location and public-private development model position it as a key asset in strengthening India’s global air network. It aims to offer modern infrastructure, seamless connectivity and capacity to support long-term growth in passenger traffic.

In its initial phase, Navi Mumbai International will handle up to 20 million passengers annually, scaling up to 90 million passengers at full capacity.

The airport’s launch will establish a dual-airport system for Mumbai, helping to ease congestion at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and support the region’s broader economic development.

IndiGo has confirmed a major operational commitment to Navi Mumbai International, offering both domestic and international services. The airline is also expanding its network across India to maximise accessibility and connectivity for passengers nationwide. ✈
