Flemingo Duty Free wins multi-airport duty-free, specialist retail and F&B contract in Cape Verde

CAPE VERDE. Flemingo Duty Free has been awarded a concession to operate 17 duty-free, specialist retail and food & beverage spaces at four international airports in Cape Verde – Amílcar Cabral International, Sal; Nelson Mandela International, Praia; Aristides Pereira International, Boa Vista; and Cesária Évora Airport, São Vicente.

The exclusive contract runs for seven years from Q3, extendable for a further seven.

Flemingo said it will consolidate its decade-long presence in the Atlantic Ocean archipelago as result of the prestigious award.

The store will cover around 3,000sq m and feature all duty-free core business categories, travel accessories, souvenirs, convenience stores and F&B outlets.

Flemingo will also develop a unique concept called Marketplace, which the retailer described as “a cultural destination, full of life, energy and dynamism, capturing the island’s essence for zest for life”.

Further developments at the airport will also present Flemingo with an opportunity to create new bespoke concepts, the company said.

Flemingo pledged to work closely with airport operator Vinci Airports to contribute to the promotion and growth of travel and tourism sectors as part of Cape Vede Tourism Vision 2030.
