The Chameleons share “Saviours Are A Dangerous Thing” from their first album in 24 years
‘Arctic Moon’ is out September 12.

The Chameleons will release Arctic Moon, their first album in 24 years, on September 12 and they’ve just shared a new single. “Saviours Are A Dangerous Thing” closes the album and really feels like the lead single, as most of the band earmarks are here: the interplay of ethereal and harder-edged guitars, nuanced drumming, an open-hearted melody and grand chorus with socially conscious themes. This is The Chameleons, all right.
“The melody and lyrics came to me quite quickly,” frontman Mark Burgess says. “They reflect what has happening globally and how senior officials could be seen lining up to kiss the ring of this clown, who seemed to regard himself more as a self-proclaimed king than an elected official.” He adds, “I just see too many echoes of the 1930s in what’s been going on in the world, which I personally see as being extremely dangerous both for the country I’ve chosen to live in and the Western world in general,”
You can watch the video for “Saviours Are A Dangerous Thing” below.
As for the whole of Arctic Moon, Burgess says, “Everyone involved brought their ‘A’ game to this project and I can’t wait for people to hear it…I think the songwriting is much more mature in a lot of ways, which is to be expected, I suppose, given our age, but I, for one, really believe we’re taking the band forward, and I’m quite excited about it.”
