Nearly 450 items from David Lynch’s personal archives going up for auction

Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies are putting up almost 450 items from the late David Lynch‘s personal archives up for auction. “Julien’s and Turner Classic Movies are honored to represent and offer to the public for the first time this incredible collection of one of the greatest and most revered filmmakers of all time, David Lynch,” Catherine Williamson, managing director of entertainment at Julien’s Auctions, said. “These historical and cherished pieces reflecting David Lynch’s singular artistic vision, as well as his passions and pursuits ranging from his director’s chair, espresso machine to his guitar, record collections and Twin Peaks style decor, come directly from the home of the visionary artist whose enigmatic films stirred our most imaginative and collective surreal dreams.”

The extremely extensive collection includes coffee mugs and espresso machines; furniture; taxidermy deer heads; props and scripts from Mulholland Drive, Twin Peaks, Wild at Heart, and The Straight Story; memorabilia from his films; cameras old and new, including a Hasselblad a Leica, and vintage Polaroids; lighting equipment; lots and lots of books about various subjects; instruments, including guitars, keyboards, drum kits, trumpets, harmonicas, a cornet, and megaphones; records, some of which are signed; film posters; a Black Lodge-styled red curtain and zig-zag chevron rug; clothing, shoes, and hats; a variety of woodworking and power tools; home stereo equipment; sculptures; art supplies; sewing machines and fabric; transcendental meditation items; a rain stick; board games; plates, silverware, and cooking utensils; an exercise bike; golf clubs; a fragment of the Berlin Wall; and still more.
