Twoef e D Beat: il dodicesimo livello di un’immersione interiore

Trax Records presenta il singolo “Deep Twelve”. In attesa della release del 23 maggio abbiamo intervistato i producer Twoef e D Beat.

La celebre etichetta di Chicago continua a guardare l’Italia con interesse e a puntare su alcuni nomi della vecchia e nuova scena house locale. Torna la voce di Sophia Cerù, che si sovrappone morbida alla produzione di Twoef e D Beat dalle contaminazioni ambient e deep.

“Deep Twelve” è il frutto di un’esperienza irripetibile, la fotografia di un flusso d’ispirazione a Es Vedrà, magica isola al largo di Ibiza, da sempre meta di sognatori e clubbers. E’ in questo contesto ambientale, sensoriale ed emotivo che va colto il senso di “Deep Twelve”. Una traccia che dischiude la magia di un momento e traduce in musica il dodicesimo livello di un’immersione interiore.

Il disco di Twoef, D Beat e Sophia Cerù anticipa uno speciale showcase ad Amsterdam che ridefinirà i confini dei party Trax e un’iconica release in occasione del quarantesimo compleanno della label.

Ciao ragazzi, è un piacere rivedervi su Parkett. Come state e come va questo 2025 con Trax Records? 

Ciao e grazie a voi, è sempre un piacere! Il 2025 è iniziato con grande energia. Con Trax Records stiamo vivendo una fase di forte espansione: nuove uscite, ritorno nelle chart internazionali, collaborazioni importanti e un rinnovato entusiasmo nella squadra. Sentiamo di essere parte di una rinascita storica per la label.

Il dodicesimo livello di un’immersione interiore, ecco cos’è ”Deep Twelve”. La fotografia di un momento irripetibile a Es Vedrà, la magica isola al largo di Ibiza. Vi va di raccontarci di più su quel momento che vi ha così tanto ispirati? 

Eravamo a Es Vedrà durante il tramonto, in silenzio, con solo il suono del vento e del mare. È stato un momento mistico, quasi fuori dal tempo. In quel silenzio ci siamo sentiti connessi a qualcosa di più profondo. L’idea di “Deep Twelve” è nata proprio lì: volevamo tradurre quell’energia in musica, raccontare quel dodicesimo livello di profondità emotiva che abbiamo percepito.

Ci sono altri posti in giro per il mondo che vi hanno ispirati o che rappresentano per voi un safe-space in cui ritrovare la vostra energia creativa?

Senza dubbio Ibiza continua a essere una fonte inesauribile di ispirazione, soprattutto nei momenti di silenzio, fuori stagione. Anche alcuni posti di mare in Italia — quei luoghi dove il tempo sembra fermarsi — ci aiutano a ricaricare l’energia creativa. E poi c’è lo studio: il nostro vero rifugio. È lì che tutto prende forma, che l’idea si trasforma in suono. Uno spazio intimo dove ci ritroviamo completamente.

Che ruolo ha avuto ciascuno di voi nella progettazione e produzione di ”Deep Twelve”? 

Twoef ha curato tutto l’aspetto sonoro, dal sound design al mix finale, mentre D Beat ha tracciato la linea artistica e narrativa del brano. È un lavoro in simbiosi: ognuno porta il proprio universo, e quando si incontrano nasce qualcosa di unico. In questo caso, la magia è stata proprio l’equilibrio tra profondità tecnica ed emotiva.

In quale club di Ibiza vi piacerebbe organizzare un party Trax Records?

Senza dubbio al Cova Santa. È un luogo che unisce natura, libertà e qualità musicale. Sarebbe perfetto per la vibe di Trax Records di oggi: puro, sincero, connesso alle radici ma proiettato al futuro.

Trax Records svolge un ruolo fondamentale nella connessione tra la scena house statunitense e quella europea. Quali sono secondo voi le città europee con una scena house da tenere d’occhio oggi ?

Oltre alle grandi capitali come Berlino, Londra e Amsterdam, stiamo notando un fermento interessante a Napoli, Lisbona, Marsiglia e Cracovia. Sono città dove la scena si sta evolvendo con una forte identità locale e un grande rispetto per la cultura house.

Com’è stato collaborare con Sophia Cerù? Il brano nasce per la sua voce o l’idea di includere il suo vocal è nata successivamente? 

È stato naturale. Avevamo già una bozza strumentale di “Deep Twelve” ma mancava un’anima vocale. Quando abbiamo ascoltato Sophia, è stato chiaro che fosse lei. La sua voce ha dato un senso più profondo al brano, senza stravolgerlo. Ha aggiunto luce, respiro. Non poteva esserci scelta migliore.

Vi ringrazio per questa chiacchierata e concludo chiedendovi se volete anticiparci qualcosa sugli show o le release di quest’estate.

Possiamo anticiparvi che stiamo lavorando intensamente a due progetti speciali: uno showcase ad Amsterdam che porterà il suono di Trax Records in una dimensione tutta nuova, e la celebrazione ufficiale dei 40 anni della house music, con una release davvero significativa. Sarà un’estate importante.

Hi guys, it’s nice to see you again on Parkett. How are you and how is this 2025 with Trax Records going?

Hello and thank you, it’s always a pleasure! 2025 has started with great energy. With Trax Records we are experiencing a moment of strong expansion: new releases, return to the international charts, important collaborations and a renewed enthusiasm in the team. We feel we are part of a historic rebirth for the label.

The twelfth level of an inner immersion, that’s what “Deep Twelve” is. The photograph of an unrepeatable moment in Es Vedrà, the magical island off the coast of Ibiza. Could you tell us more about that moment that inspired you so much?

We were in Es Vedrà during the sunset, in silence, with only the sound of the wind and the sea. It was a mystical moment, almost out of time. In that silence we felt connected to something deeper. The idea of ​​“Deep Twelve” was born right there: we wanted to translate that energy into music, to tell that twelfth level of emotional depth that we perceived.

Are there other places around the world that have inspired you or that represent a safe space for you to find your creative energy?

Ibiza continues to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration, with no doubts, especially in the moments of silence, out of season. Even some seaside places in Italy — those places where time seems to stop — help us recharge our creative energy. And then there is the studio: our true refuge. It is there that everything takes shape, that the idea is transformed into sound. An intimate space where we find ourselves completely.

What role did each of you have in the design and production of “Deep Twelve”?

Twoef took care of the entire sound aspect, from the sound design to the final mix, while D Beat traced the artistic and narrative line of the song. It is a symbiotic work: each one brings their own universe, and when they meet something unique borns. In this case, the magic was the balance between technical and emotional depth.

In which Ibiza club would you like to organize a Trax Records party?

Cova Santa for sure. It is a place that combines nature, freedom and musical quality. It would be perfect for the vibe of Trax Records today: pure, sincere, connected to the roots but projected towards the future.

Trax Records plays a key role in connecting the US and European house scenes. Which European cities have an house scene to keep an eye on today?

In addition to the usual big capitals like Berlin, London and Amsterdam, we are seeing an interesting energy in Naples, Lisbon, Marseille and Krakow. These are cities where the scene is evolving with a strong local identity and a great respect for house culture.

How was it to collaborate with Sophia Cerù? Was the track born for her voice or did the idea of ​​including her vocal come later?

It was natural. We already had an instrumental draft of “Deep Twelve,” but it was missing a vocal soul. When we listened to Sophia, it was clear that it was her. Her voice gave a deeper meaning to the song, without distorting it. She added light, breath. There couldn’t have been a better choice.

Thanks to you! We can tell you that we are working hard on two special projects: a showcase in Amsterdam that will bring the Trax Records sound to a whole new dimension, and the official celebration of 40 years of house music, with a really significant release. It will be an important summer.
